……you really can’t parent “with” a narcissist - narcissists have no comprehension of teamwork or collaboration. But you may have the misfortune of trying to raise a child who has a narcissistic parent. These are the writings of parents attempting to retain some semblance of sanity, as we try to deal with the game playing, gaslighting, manipulating, sabotage, entitlement, self importance, image priority, lying, and verbal abuse of narcissistic fathers or mothers of our children.
“It’s a kind of insanity, you know, to be involved with a narcissist. You don’t realize what you’re doing to yourself when you’re involved with one, and if anything, you fight like hell to keep him in your life.”
“I never felt like I left him. I escaped…. But I wonder, do we ever heal? Is there a place that is just so ravaged, that there’s no moving on? I don’t know.”
“He took away the person I was. I have had to reinvent a new me. It was like a death.”
